Color in the Summer Landscape Tuesdays 7/29-8/19

In this four-day workshop we will explore color in the summer landscape. Working on site, students will learn to extract their vision from the landscape beginning with black and white sketches and progressing to full color compositions. Emphasis will be on color; composition, gesture, form, value, and line. The first day will include a slide lecture, historical landscape background & review of color in Nature. Sites will include the Evanston Lakefront, The Chicago Botanic Garden, and the Cuneo Estates. Color mediums can include oil, acrylic; pastel, and gouache. Students must provide their own transportation for off-site locations car-pooling encouraged.
