EVANSTON ART CENTER
GOUACHE IMMERSION
Thursday 7:00 pm - 10 pm
Five-week class beginning May 3, 2012

Gouache is a water-based opaque paint with a bright saturated color and velvety matte texture. In this class we will explore the technical possibilities of gouache such as linear and tonal technique, painterly and graphic application, color, and composition. Gouache is a paint medium ideally suited to both beginner and advanced painters. Because gouache is a water-based medium, it requires a minimum of materials and dries quickly for reworking.  http://www.evanstonartcenter.org/

DRAWING INTO PAINTING

Tuesday 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Five-week class beginning May 1, 2012

The envisaging of a painting through drawing results in the creation of more dynamic works. Experience the creative exploration needed to move confidently into painting by practicing concepts integral to the discipline with black-and-white, wet, and dry drawing media. Experiment with composition, scale, line, focus, and more. Students will draw sketches and thumbnails to change perspectives and ideas. Students will begin several painting compositions as drawings. Choose from a full range of subject matter. Move confidently into painting in the medium of your choice after completing your exploration.  http://www.evanstonartcenter.org/

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain:  Create with New Perceptions
Saturday July 14 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Drawing ability, for many, seems only possible with a certain level of talent. However,  when you access the right side of the brain, which is the seat of your creativity, you unblock your drawing abilities. Discover the connections between how you think, what you see, and how to draw. Through a series of guided exercises, open your perceptions to see the world around you with an artist's eye. This class is for both the beginning and more practiced artist who would like to clarify and simplify the approach of capturing creative expression on paper. You will create several small drawings using the right side of your brain.
